The Awards UK website was re-launched this evening, following extensive re-design to make best use of the latest CSS techniques. Awards UK Ltd is a subsidiary of Edexcel and Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Each page consists of only four graphics ‚ not counting icons representing link types (see previous post), all other effects are achieved through CSS — this includes the arrows that appear on the active menu item, the pagination boxes for the RSS news reader.

Due to this stripping back to the most basic of elements, the website is significantly faster to load.

The website has a whole meets the W3 compliance tests for CSS and XHTML.
