It's lucky 13 for our carbon offsetting forest

Trees.

We at The Green Insurance Company are proud to announce that work has started on 4 more forestry projects to offset the carbon emissions of our customer's vehicles, bringing our grand total of forestry projects to 13.

We'll continue to offset 100% of the emissions of our customer's vehicles completely free of charge by planting trees on your behalf. We've planted over 300,000 trees in the UK, with a further 205,000 already confirmed to be planted in 2010. By the end of the summer, this will equate to 461 trees being planted each and every day since the company began trading back in August 2007.

3 of our 4 new forestry projects are in Scotland, with the other in Cumbria. The first of these is in West Lothian and will be home to 9,000 trees, most of which will be Oak trees. The second project is in Dumfrieshire, where 58,000 new trees will enhance the area around Loch Ken and the A713.

The third Scottish project is in the Stirlingshire area, where 6300 or so Ash, Oak and Birch trees will surround the River Carron.

Our 4th project is an extension of our Kidburngil forest in Cumbria, which was completed last year. We'll be arranging to plant a further 12,000 trees in this area (mostly Oak trees) to link our original project to the surrounding ponds, creating a habitat link between the ponds and the new woodland. Wildlife species that will benefit from this will include the resident geese and swans, various birds, rabbits and even deer.

Remember, we work out your vehicle's carbon emissions by the type of vehicle you drive, and your annual mileage. For breakdown customers we offset the emissions of all breakdown recovery vehicles used to assist our customers throughout the year by planting trees on their behalf.

We have 13 projects all across the UK, details of which can be found on our interactive map, with pictures of most of them available on these pages. Why not take a look at what we've managed to do so far to make Britain greener?
