Shortly after leaving SQA, to start working full-time at Frecosse, Graeme was asked to provide support to Civic UK, a leading website development/engineering firm based in Edinburgh who specialise in websites for public bodies.

While at SQA, Graeme had developed a fantastic working relationship with the staff at Civic, who provided web engineering services for SQA's website.

Civic commissioned Frecosse to develop a “.mobi” website for the then forthcoming Scottish Elections.

The .mobi framework is designed specifically for delivering web content to mobile phones, but as this was pre iPhone and other touch-screen devices, the lack of user interface forced a different approach to layout and navigation. For example, users with out any kind of input device, could only navigate the site using the number pad on their phone.

As well as developing this mobile site, Frecosse were asked to write best practice documentation for building websites in the .mobi framework for future use by Civic's development team.

While these elections have long sinced passed, we do still have an archive copy of the site on our server which you can take a look at.
