Project Summary
The Arran Voice was launched on Easter weekend, 2007. Set up as a local business, The Arran Voice Ltd produced a weekly newspaper, comprising 24 full colour pages.
Graeme Attkins of Frecosse Website Design was approached to become a Director in the company, and to set up the online publishing system.
The custom-built publishing system provided fully web-based article submission and management for each member of the team. At its most basic, the process was as follows:
- Journalist writes article and uploads any associated images
- Editor re-works article
- Proof-reader checks article
- Editor approves article for use in current issue
- Designer pulls down copy for use in paper and marks article as used
- Article auto-published on website on day of Newspaper delivery
Following a change in staff at the end of 2007, Graeme became the managing director of the company, until his resignation in December 2009.
Sadly, the newspaper ceased to exist in March 2010, but still lives on in the form of an online-only publication, Voice for Arran.
